Kayaking and camping go together very well.  At all Kangaroo Tent City stores you will find an exciting range of kayaks to suit every purpose.  From the recreational beginner to the skillful wave rider, you will have great fun on the water with these boats.

The range of kayaks we sell are either made in Australia, or in Thailand using only premium quality materials.  Made from super tuff UV stabilised polyethylene, these hulls can take the knocks and bumps against rocks without causing damage.  Optional accessories for the kayak range include paddles, life vests, clip in seats and backrests, roof racks, tiedowns, trolleys, motor kits, etc.

How are they made ?

The polyethylene moulded kayaks seen here are made using a rotational moulding method.  The polyethylene is supplied in a pellet/ powder form.  The powder is supplied in the desired colour and has been UV treated to reduce fading in the sun.  The desired colours of the powder are poured in to the bottom half of the mould.  The top half is then secured and the ovens and rotational machines are switched on.  The ovens melt the powder to a liquid form and the machine rotates on its axis as well as up and down to ensure the liquid is evenly distributed across the moulded shape.  This process takes approx 30 minutes at which time the machines are then turned off and the shape is left to set and dry.  Once the mould has set, the boat is removed from the oven and allowed to cool for another 30 minutes.  After this time the detail of the grab rope, hatches and other trimmings are applied to the boat and packaged ready for collection.
